Upcoming Christening Ceremony of MV Sandstad
Jan 22, 2026
We are pleased to announce the upcoming christening ceremony of our newest vessel, MV Sandstad, marking an important milestone in the continued development of the company’s goal of modernizing the fleet.
MV Sandstad is the third sister vessel in our fleet's S-type vessels, joining her sisters Sletringen and Selvaagsund. The S-type vessels are designed to meet high standards of operational efficiency, safety and environmental performance, reflecting our long term strategic ambitions.
Following her completion in early October last year, MV Sandstad commenced her maiden voyage from China, arriving in Norway in early December after a long and successful delivery voyage shipping big bags with charcoal. Her arrival has been highly advantageous for the company, boosting our capacity and streamlining operations. This improvement is particularly critical for fulfilling our latest contract with Omya Hustadmarmor, which involves transporting crushed marble stones from Lessremman and Visnes to Elnesvågen.
The official christening ceremony will be held on February 28 at Hitra Kysthavn in the village of Sandstad on the island of Hitra, the very place that inspired the vessel's name. The occasion will bring together invited customers, partners and representatives to celebrate the vessel’s delivery and her place within our expanding and renewing fleet.
Berge Rederi look forward to formally welcoming MV Sandstad and celebrate her as a yet another remarkable new-building to our fleet.

Berge Rederi nominated for EY Entrepreneur Of The Year
Oct 28, 2025
Berge Rederi has been named one of five contenders for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Norway regional distinction in Trøndelag. Throughout November, candidates from across the country will be recognized at seven regional ceremonies, with each regional winner advancing to the national final held in Oslo in February 2026.
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year celebrates founders and owners who seek to build impactful and sustaining value in our world. People who bring ideas to life, invest capital and put in the necessary efforts to create workplaces and sustainable growth in our society. Unlike many growth awards, the jury place equal weight on the candidates' role, leadership, values, social responsibility and environmental commitment alongside financial performance.
This nomination holds profound meaning for us and stands as a testament to our journey since the humble beginnings in 1997. We started as a small family owned and managed shipping company with limited resources, bold ambitions and enduring determination. Through sustained efforts, adaptation and focus on close collaboration with our stakeholders, we have grown into the shipping company we are today. The recognition underscores what proper efforts, dedication and teamwork can achieve.
We take deep pride in our maritime family roots and in the collective contribution and cooperation of our entire organization. Our growing administrative team has strengthened the way we plan, support and deliver our services while raising our standards across safety and quality. Equally, we wish to acknowledge the esteemed crew members, those operating our vessels today and the ones who previously sailed with us through the years. Their seamanship, resilience and hard work at sea have played a crucial role for the company's performance and reputation.
We are utmost honored for this recognition and look forward to what lies ahead in the horizon.
